Need some ways to get milk into your daily nutrition plan?

The below foods contain milk that you need for getting daily calcium:

Try making creamed soups, chowders, creamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, scalloped dishes, souffles, beverages, desserts such as custards and bread puddings, breads, cakes, kale soup, rolls, salad dressings, puddings and sauces, cereals.

However, the calcium values contained in the above foods are much less than in a glass of milk, so you would have to eat quite a bit of food to catch up!

This is why we balance our meals!

Caffeine Blues: Wake Up to the Hidden Dangers of America's #1 Drug

Pulls together all the latest research & details the full scope of caffeine's detrimental effect on our physical, mental & emotional well being. Review
Get ready to give up that morning latte and kiss cola goodbye.

Here comes Caffeine Blues, by Stephen Cherniske, M.S., the first book to expose the dark side of America's No. 1 drug: caffeine.
If you are one of the nearly 80 percent of Americans hooked on caffeine--a natural component of coffee, tea, and chocolate and a common ingredient in drugs, soda, candy, and other products--this book will be a wake-up call.

In Caffeine Blues, Cherniske, a nutritional biochemist with more than 25 years of academic research and clinical experience and author of the bestseller The DHEA Breakthrough, reveals the truth about caffeine and explains how to kick the habit forever.

Cherniske discusses how caffeine affects the body and brain and why it can increase your risk of dozens of health disorders ranging from osteoporosis, diabetes, and PMS to hypertension and heartburn.

After spending 300 pages documenting all of caffeine's evils, Cherniske finally offers a decaffeinated life line:

Referred to as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" by The New York Times, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in more than 2,500 counties across China and Taiwan, and conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing these ailments as well as curbing obesity, this text calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that are widely popular in the West.

The politics of nutrition and the impact of special interest groups in the creation and dissemination of public information are also discussed.

Children and Nutrition

Did you know that proper nourishment helps to avoid crime?

HOW? Children must be fed, clothed, and housed right, if society would avoid building crime.

Nervous irritations and mental perversions originate in gastro-intestinal derangement brought on from foods improperly prepared and wrongly combined, plus bad air, improper clothing, and poor discipline.

The above "Children and Nutrition" information is from the book
Food: Its Influence as a Factor in Disease and Health
Written by Dr. JH Tilden in 1914.

Keep up to six 12-ounce cans of soda or other favorite beverage cold and easily accessible with this mini fridge--great for getting through finals week or for staying hydrated when watching the big game.

The compact unit takes up minimal counter space, and it makes a fun addition to any dorm room, workshop, game room, or bar area with its vibrant red exterior and white "Coca-Cola" trademark.

The appliance cools up to 40 degrees below ambient temperature, and its self-locking recessed door handle closes securely.

The 4-liter-capacity mini fridge measures 11 by 8 by 11 inches.

Drinking Coca Cola and other Soft Drinks

Did you know that a 12 ounce can of Coca Cola (and other non-diet soft drinks) contains the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar and has around 150 empty calories per can?

It is very easy to get hooked on soft drinks, especially Coca Cola and Pepsi.

If you drink 3 cans of soda a day, you are ingesting about 30 teaspoons of sugar daily and getting an addition of 450 calories a day to your diet!

Now, try to fit this in with the rest of your daily diet!

If you have been gaining weight, and not overeating, add up the amount of soft drinks you drink daily.
You may be surprised to learn that by just cutting down to one soft drink a day, you will find you will lose weight in no time.

Within two weeks, you should lose about 1 pound.
And, all you are giving up are 2 cans soda a day!
Not too difficult, right?

Drink ice water with a few squirts of lemon or lime in it.

This helps the transition from soda to water.

For the heavier soda drinkers out there....Do not go cold turkey, or you will end up with caffeine withdrawal.

If you currently drink 3 or more cans of Coca Cola a day, cut down to 2 sodas a day for about 1 week.

After that week, you can cut down to one can of cola a day for a week.

You may then cut out these beverages completely and safely.

However, my recommendation to you is not to substitute the diet colas for the sugar colas..

Diet Colas are just as addicting (if not more so) than cola with sugar.

If you do want to drink a can of soda, you are better off drinking regular Coke

How Healthy is it to Eat Lobster

Nutrition studies show that 3 1/2 ounces of lobster meat (without the butter) contains only 90 calories, compared to 163 calories for the same amount of chicken and 280 calories for sirloin steak.

Lobster also contains omega-3 fatty acids, the "good " cholesterol that seems to reduce hardening of the arteries and decrease the risk of heart attacks.

It's the butter, mayonnaise and stuffing that makes lobster less healthy!
