Recipes for Old Herbal Tonics

Try this Herbal Tonic drink to help keep your immune system healthy!

Ingredients:

1 apple (peeled)
1 beet (fresh or canned)
1 orange (peeled)
3 carrots (peeled)

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender.

Mix until well blended.

Refrigerate until well chilled.

This makes 1 serving. This is good for adults and children.
You may add a touch of honey to the drink.




Old Herbal Tonic Herbs


Mild Laxative:

Take one ounce of washed pearl barley.
Boil the barley for 20 minutes in water.
This was used a a mild laxative.



Coffee Tonic for Fever

Put 10 drams of raw coffee berries into 8 ounces of water and boil.
Boil till the water evaporates to 5 ounces.

Give in 3 doses during the intermission of intermittent fever.



Dandelion Stimulant Tonic

Take 2 ounces of bruised dandelion root and place it in 1 pint of boiling water.
Steep for 2 hours and strain.

This is a tonic, resilient and stimulant.
Dosage: Take a wine glassful 3 times a day!



Old Remedy to Cure those who Drink too much Wine!

In a large pot, put in 3 large live eels.
Cover with enough wine to cover the eels.

Leave the pot with the eels until the eels are quite dead.

Now, you can offer your wine loving friend a drink of wine!

He/she will be so disgusted with the taste, they will never want to drink again!

This remedy for the Wine Cure is a 200 year old herbal tonic remedy.

I do not know how safe it would be for the health, and therefore, cannot recommend using this method...
